Official Opening of the
New Extention & Exhibitions

On 28 June, the new Moller building extension to the Parham Airfield Memorial Museum was formally opened.

The event was attended by over 200 invited guests, friends and members of the public. Also present were re-enactors representing personnel from the British Resistance Organisation and there was a display of military vehicles and flying model aircraft. Addresses were given by the museum's President Peter Kindred and Chairman Tim Brett and the Vice President of the 390th Memorial Museum Foundation Tucson, Frank Drain and John Warwicker, researcher and founder of the BRO Museum. We were also supported by members of the United States Air Force from RAF Mildenhall.

The service was conducted by the Reverend Deidre West, the unveiling of the new buildings name plaque was carried out by Frank Drain and the unveling off the information board was carried out by two BRO veterans, John Thurgood & Donald Hanscombe. 390th veteran Leroy Keeping cut the ribbon to formally open the Moller Building.

The National Anthems of the United Kingdom and the United States of America were played at the conclusion of the service and museum volunteer Caroline Curtiss gave a reading from 'The Wartime Memories of a Local English Girl'.

Remembrance Sunday 2013

4

On Remembrance Sunday, 10 November 2013, GHQ Auxiliary Units were finally given permission to march past the Cenotaph in Whitehall after the Service. A group of 12 marched including two veterans, Trevor Miners & Dillwyn Thomas, as well as descendants of veterans and their families. The march was led by Michael Gubbins, the Grandson of Major General Colin Gubbins, the first Commanding Officer of the Auxiliary Units.

The Coleshill Auxiliary Research Team (CART) organised the Aux Units participation after an initial drive from BROM about 10 years ago. See video and images of the march here http://www.coleshillhouse.com/march-at-the-cenotaph-campaign.php
