Official Opening of the Kindred Building

The Kindred Exhibition Hall was opened on 14th May 2021 in a ceremony led by Peter Kindred, President, Peter Senior, Chair of Trustees, and Chris Pratt, Vice Chair.  It is designed to showcase the history of the GHQ Auxiliary Units, 1940 to 1944, and explain how their story links to the history of the air base and the war in general.  It includes a timeline of the world at war, the air war, and British resistance.  Access to the replica Operational base is from inside the building.

The guests were addressed by John Warwicker MBE, who unveiled the plaque dedicating the building to Percy Kindred and Charles Kindred who has served in the local auxiliary unit, Charles Kindred, secret radio operator, and Peter Kindred, farmer and President of the museum.  Will Cart of the Coleshill Auxiliary research Team unveiled the dedication of the cinema to John Warwicker.

The new building was blessed by the Reverand Brynn Bayman.

The structure was erected by a professional contractor, but museum volunteers designed and completed the internal fitting out of the new building and the various displays.
